Our wine cellar..

...guarantees truly handcrafted wines that are full of primary fruit aromas and mineral components from the slate beds, which are full of the fine nuances of free and easy youth and are a little free-willed like its landscape. The preparation of the wine follows old handed-down traditions, but also with the careful targeted use of modern wine making techniques. Specially selected harvests, careful processing of the grapes and temperature controlled cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks are the techniques used in the making of fruity and wholesome Riesling wines. The proof of this is in the countless numbers of successes in various wine competitions and the awarding of the Staatsehrenpreise (honour of state award).

In the old vaulted cellar (over 350 years old) our red wines are exclusively produced and stored in wooden barrels. After the classic fermentation on skins process has taken place, the wood allows the wines to breathe and mature into red wines that are full of character.

However, the best red wines of each vintage mature in small Barrique barrels (cask of chestnut oak each 225 litres). The wine is bottled after 15 months, once the tannins of the young fresh wood and of the wine have harmonised. To add the final touch, the wine is further matured in the bottle for at least another 6 months.
